The launch of the condensing steam turbine is a landmark milestone for the power complex (NiGRES)! It will allow the generating power plant to move to a new level of energy efficiency. This project is the product of the labors of the entire plant team and its contractor entities.
The Technical Director of the power complex (NiGRES) Robert Khazeev told us about the progress of the investment project for 27 MW condensing steam turbine commissioning:
“This 13th of September, after completion of building and installation operations as part of the commissioning work, K-27 turbine was idled. All reference parameters were within tolerance, and generator and excitation system tests were carried out as well.”
– What is the next step in putting the turbine into operation?
– The next step will be obtaining a provisional permit to operate the power facility. On September 13, the commission of the regional dispatch control and Rosseti completed its work on inspecting the installed equipment in accordance with the working design documentation. No irregularities were detected by the inspection commission. Now Rosseti is drawing up a report certifying that all engineering specification measures have been taken and no non-conformities have been identified. This report will provide the basis for an application to the Electric Inspection Service of the Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service for a provisional turbine operation permit. Based on our application, an Electric Inspection Service Commission will be appointed, with which we will also have to do some work. Based on commission's findings, a permit issue decision will be made. I believe that all of this is addressable, the process has been launched, and each stage is under our control.
Upon receipt of the permit, a comprehensive testing of the equipment will be carried out. We must idle the turbine, connect it to the power grid, and reach the maximum load (27 MW). The turbine must deliver this load without deviations for 72 hours.
– Tell us what is unique about this turbine?
– Firstly, a state-of-the-art equipment of Russian manufacture: our condensing steam turbine is substantially more advanced than those currently in operation at the plant.
Secondly, a high degree of automation: the turbine accelerates from 0 to three thousand automatically, which eliminates the human factor and minimizes the risk of damage.
Thirdly, resource savings: the level of specific fuel consumption for electricity generation will be significantly lower. Steam will be supplied to the new turbine from the exhaust of turbine No. 2 (it is of back-pressure type). We will burn less gas to generate a given amount of electricity. Accordingly, the plant's economy will be much better.
Robert Khazeev emphasized the importance of the fact that the entire system is fitted out with Russian equipment, which makes it more autonomous and rugged, and noted the high professionalism of the power complex employees, who successfully supervised each stage of condensing steam turbine commissioning.
